Much of this holiday would be centered in the province of Umbria, and its capital Perugia. On the way from Bologna to Perugia, we visited the towns of Brisighella, Bagno di Romagna, where we enjoyed one of the best hot springs we have visited in Europe, the eerily quiet gem of Marche province: Urbino, and the wonderful Gubbio, known for the largest Christmas tree in the world -- not a real tree but rather a giant light installation on the hillside above town.
