Foodie capital of Italy? Maybe -- we had some good food in Bologna. We were more impressed by the elegant colonnaded walkways, vestiges of a time when the world's greatest university was in Bologna and, building to accommodate all the students, buildings built outwards, adding colonnades on the ground floor, supporting the extra housing above. Today, Bologna retains nearly 40 kilometers of colonnaded walkways.
