Certainly a destination in Austria, although having a remarkable history and having a beautiful cityscape, Salzburg underwhelmed. The 60 euro fine for losing our parking ticket at the end of the afternoon certainly did not help matters. This is one of those times that we should have leaned into some cultural aspect -- maybe the Sound of Music connection or the Mozart themed museums and performances. After exploring Salzburg and its surroundings for the day, we made a quick cross-border visit to Germany's tiny slice of the Alps in Berchtesgaden at the end of the day. This region, particularly Konigsee Lake are well-worth the side trip!
