This short holiday was a two country holiday. After some time in Greece, we headed north, into Bulgaria.
Without enough time to properly explore, we set our focus on one destination: Plovdiv. This city is one of Bulgaria's historic gems, with a story stretching back to Roman times. For centuries, at the crossroads between many cultures, Plovdiv retains evidence of every group that has called this city home. It was a beautiful city to explore and enjoy for several days and rightfully earns it's place in the list of European Capitals of Culture over this past decade. On the way back to Belgrade, of course, we could not skip a day in Bulgaria's capital, Sofia.
