Whenever we need a history and culture fix, it's good to know that Riga is just 20 minutes away. A day in the city always gives us great sights, great food, and wonderful museum visits. On this day, we visited the Krijanis Baronis Museum which preserves the home of the "Father of the Dainas", the man who systematically documented all of Latvia's thousands of ancient folk songs and poems. The Arsenals Art Museum is the best spot for modern art in the city and the Decorative Arts Museum exceeded any expectations that we had. Finally, a stop at the giant Central Market is always a great choice for fresh, local foods.
