Rai is 127 Months Old!

As Rai gets older, his nurturing tendencies continue to develop. He is highly empathetic and caring. Although they have their moments, he takes great care of Kotaru. Since he is such a great caregiver, a few months ago, we got him a pet hamster. Now, Lenny can be seen emerging from his little home within his cage after the sun has set and the squeaking of his little wheel can be heard into the wee hours of the night...

Ash's Birthday: A Weekend in Liepaja

For Ash's birthday, we took a little weekend trip to Latvia's west coast, centered around the city of Liepaja. We stayed in a small apartment in a turn-of-the-century brick building that has been extensively, and stylishly refurbished. Fall is definitely turning to winter now so it was cold, windy, rainy, and dark weekend. Still, there's lots to appreciate in this historic city so we made the most of our couple days there.
