Ligo

It's near the end of our fourth year in Latvia yet we haven't celebrated Latvia's most important holiday yet... that is, until this year!  Jani and Ligo are the dual names for Latvia's ancient midsummer celebration. This pagan tradition remains the holiday that Latvians look forward to most for all that it represents: family and friends, nature, and summer. This year, we decided to host the celebration on our new land plot in order to bestow our piece of earth with some positive energy and love.  A good time was had by all even though we didn't quite make it through the night -- we passed out by 1:00 a.m., just when it was getting dark.

Our Caravan

After several years of road trips in which our car acts as camper for us, we have finally upgraded.  Check out our new caravan!  After a paint job and some minor fix ups, we think it's ready for its first European road trip. We'll try it out for a month on the road, following the Baltic Coast through Poland, German, Denmark and Sweden.  Let's see how this 46 year old caravan performs...

Garden

Now that Linda is here, our garden is looking more lively this Spring and Summer. We even have some vegetables growing...

Sigulda Adventures

Recently, we spent a two days and a night on our land. What a difference just a few weeks make. The warm summer sun has given our meadow all that it needs to grow and flourish. It's wild and it's tall!  The time on the land also reminded us how fortunate we are -- this really is the adventure and outdoors hub in all of Latvia. Every time we visit Sigulda, we find a few new trails.
