Stop and Smell

Stop and smell. Reading that, Rai, you're probably worried that we're going to share some really personal stuff about you again. Last time we wrote about sights and smells we included a picture of your dirty diaper and compromising photo of you. Don't worry, we won't do it again.
"Let's stop and smell the roses," your mother said as we drove through Golden Gate Park this afternoon. And, she wasn't being idiomatic either. There, to our left, was the Park's Rose Garden and the hundreds of rose bushes were in full bloom. So, we stopped and smelled those roses, confirming that it is usually the peach-colored roses that are most fragrant.
Stopping and smelling those roses does make me realize that, since you've joined us, the idiom has held true too. It's true what all parents have told us and that is that when infants and children become a part of your life, your pace does slow and you are more open to seeing and experiencing the simple things in life that may otherwise have gone unnoticed. Thanks for reminding us to live in the moment!
