Rai, when heading down to the Civic Center to see the student-run EcoFest that was held there on Saturday, little did we know that you'd

receive a royal welcome. Apparently, word had leaked out that you'd be attending because when we arrived, we were astonished to see that your name, on a huge banner, hung between the columns of the giant Asian Art Musuem that sits on the northeast corner of the plaza at the Civic Center.
Following that surprise reception, we took you over to Telegraph Hill for your first visit to the amazing Filbert Steps where you enjoyed the gardens, flowers, and century-old cottages as much as we always do. Your ears perked up and eyes got wide when those wild parrots of Telegraph

Hill flew over and settled in a nearby tree, screeching the entire time. On top of the hill, we stopped to enjoy Coit Tower and some great views of downtown with the TransAmerica Pyramid in the foreground.
After that, we went down the other side of the hill into San Francisco's "Little Italy", North Beach. The sun was especially warm on this Saturday

afternoon so Washington Square park was filled with people lying around in the grass. You felt like you had joined dozens of kindred spirits, your people. Lying around is what you do best. And, if it seemed like everyone was in the park today, maybe everyone was because as we looked for a place to settle down, we saw two familiar faces: Grandma and Grandpa! In a city of almost a million, what are the chances of running into someone you know? They were so excited to see you but you still couldn't get your eyes off of all those people lying around in the grass. You couldn't resist: you were down on your back and sleeping faster than we could say 'pasta dinner'.
