Less than an hour north of Belgrade is Serbia's second city, Novi Sad is a beautiful city with a compact historical center that is much more uniform and preserved than Belgrade's. It's a great place to get away to to have a quieter and quainter experience -- more of a small town Europe feel. Walking from the old town, across the river, to the fortress hill, truly, is a memorable experience.
