For our first official holiday in Serbia, we took a beautiful, one week, Fall trip west to the Istrian peninsula in Croatia. We stayed in Zagreb before moving on to Plitvice Lakes National Park, a natural wonder and real highlight of Croatia. From there, it was the Istrian peninsula (probably more like Italy than Croatia), where we settled into a tiny stone house in a very tiny village (Paz) in the hills. From there, we took day trips to explore the Istrian coast, the Istrian interior (dotted with beautiful hill towns), and even a little bit into the very southern and coastal parts of Slovenia. All in all, it was a very beautiful and relaxing family holiday.
