Gracias Madre

There are plenty of vegetarian restaurants in San Francisco but still only a handful of vegan or raw places and, of course, we've tried them all. Actually, we hadn't tried all of them until this past weekend when went to Gracias Madre. This is a healthy, vegan take on the taqueria brought to us by the same folks who founded the popular Cafe Gratitude.
The food was good and it was great to know that the rice and beans we were eating was healthy and organic, something that is probably impossible to find at any of the taquerias we typically frequent. As always, Rai, you had to sample every single item on the table and stole half our food, I mean, helped us finish portions we'd never be able to eat on our own. I guess it's about time we accept that fact that when we're out for dinner with you, we should be ordering for three, not two anymore.
The murals at Gracias Madre also reminded us of the ethnic, cultural and religious diversity in San Francisco, one of the many things we love about our city!
