Burnside Lake

High on the ridge, in a saddle above Hotsprings Valley sits Burnside Lake. A trail from Hotspring Creek Falls continues to the lake but we knew another 6 miles of hiking the other day would have been too much for you, Rai.
Still, curious about this local lake, we took a bumpy, dirt road up to the lake the other afternoon. Five miles in, we reached an impassable (for our car) patch of snow and watched as even a massive, 4WD truck got itself stuck in the snowbank. We helped them get the truck out and decided to hike the last stretch to Burnside Lake. They turned around. We were glad we didn't give up because the lake was only 30 minutes walk further up the road and was a great place to spend a few hours. The views from the granite peaks around the lake, down to our valley and beyond to Nevada and its snowy ridge was well worth the trip.
