one of the great, local hikes. On the first day, we tried to find Wolf Creek Meadows, a pristine alpine spot known for its wonderful wildflowers. Four miles up a bumpy, dirt road, we turned back, thinking we must have gotten our directions mixed up only to find out later that we were oh so close! The next day, we set out for Hotspring Creek Falls, just up the mountain from the hotsprings. On
the way, your hat blew off into the raging creek. We tried to chase it down, unsuccessfully. Dejected, we went home.Today, we decided to try for the Falls one more time. Unaware that the trails on either side of the creek lead to two entirely different destinations, we took the southern trail. A mile or two up, we found ourselves scrambling up the granite, with no trail in sight. There's only so much rock climbing and tree trunk jumping that a pregnant Mom can handle. Again, we turned back, without having
reached our destination. At this point, I guess it's time we mention, Rai, that there's a very well known quotation that tells us that it's the journey, not the destination that matters most. Maybe so, but we'll still go for those Falls and Wolf Creek Meadows again in the coming days.
