3 Months Old! (Already?!)

Rai, on Wednesday, July 22nd, while we were in Yosemite National Park, you turned 3 months old. You had a wonderful day enjoying the views of the granite landscape from Glacier Point, then an afternoon of playing in the rushing waters of the creek under Bridal Veil Falls. We can't think of a better way for you to have celebrated this special occasion!
To mark the passing of your third full month in this world and in our family, we wanted to mention the 3 main things that make you who you are, right now, at 3 months of age.

#1: Your easy going nature. You are a wonderfully relaxed baby who very rarely fusses or cries. You accept every strange and demanding situation that we put you in. You can handle and enjoy meeting and being held by dozens of new people in short amounts of time. You sit quietly and go with the flow as we take you on 4 hour car trips and 9 hour walks around the city. In fact, when out for the full day, you spend most of your time napping or quietly observing the world around you. Did we mention that in these past weeks you've mastered the cute smile and giggle that is very effective in charming pretty much anyone you come across. We are told that we should be very happy about your laid back and complaint free nature but you've spoiled us: this is who you are and this is the only you that we've known.

#2: Your strength. Not only are you strong in handling the demands we place on you, but you are also physically strong. For weeks and weeks now, you've demanded that we stand you up on your feet so that you can stand straight, tall, and proud. Over the weeks, this has progressed into virtually unsupported standing and steps. These days, you like to walk up our legs and chests whenever given the chance as we hold your hands only. Wobbly neck? That's a thing of the past. Tight grip? You've had that for a long while now too.

#3: Your love of nature. We do not regret one bit that day out in Golden Gate Park that we had with you way back when you were about 1 week old. Sure, it may have seemed strange at the time to lay you on logs and in the grass at such a young and delicate age but, in hindsight, we're glad that we did. That experience and the many, many hiking and nature experiences that you've already had in your short 3 months have already given you a noticeable appreciation for trees and nature. Whenever we are in the forest now, you look up at the trees in wonder. You relax in your way when we take you out into nature. There is never fear or shock, just acceptance and curiosity. We're so happy to have developed your bond with nature at such a young age.

Looking back at our log of events and experiences with you on this website for the past 3 months, we are overwhelmed to tears thinking over all the joy that you've given us already. We can't believe that in just 3 months our lives have changed so much and that you've shared so much with us already. Thank you, Rai. Happy 3 months!
