Morphy Visit: Day 8 - Central Hills

Back in the pre-Rai days when we still lived in The Haight, we used to do a loop walk that took in the best of the neighborhood. We would walk through Cole Valley with its beautifully renovated historic Victorian homes, up the hill to panoramic Tank Hill, into the Mt.Sutro forest, and downhill onto fabulous Edgewood Terrace and back into Cole Valley.
This walk, Rai, was one of our favorites and we would never tire of it. Since we moved out to the Avenues, we haven't had the chance to do this walk. Until yesterday. Day 2 of our San Francisco tour with our visitors from Canada was an introduction to life in San Francisco's central hills. A collection of hills makes the geographic center of the city a beautiful, wooded area with homes built up hillsides around commercial districts that make each valley floor a unique neighborhood.
Ewa and Ryan were so impressed by the trees and homes in the area and the life that so many enjoy from their homes with floor to ceiling windows with incredible views of the entire city and Bay down below. It's one thing to say "some people have it so good" when you see one amazing home perched high on a hill with fabulous views, but when these homes are lined up one after another, block after block, you start to wonder just how many people are living the good life in this city.
While traversing those hills, we did all the standard stops: Twin Peaks, Alamo Square, Haight and Ashbury, the Panhandle, and some other not so famous spots. It was a great day for you, Rai, as you took in the flavor and beauty of what used to be our old stomping grounds.
