Some call it the new Tiong Bahru. In other words, Jalan Besar is the latest quirky, historic neighborhood to become hip and gentrified. And, a sure sign of hipster status: fancy, local coffeeshops. Jalan Besar has a few of those creeping in. Better than coffee, though, is the historic character of the area -- lots of colonial shophouses, lots of color.
