Bali - Day 10: Kuta Beach
We finished our journey through Bali at the beach some visitors never leave. Kuta Beach is where mass
tourism in Bali began in the '60s and hasn't stopped ever since. The 10 km. stretch of sand is pretty but not amazing and the effect that tourism has had on this place and it's people is awful. We hated it and hope the locals working here find a way to dig deep and find the Balinese spirit they seem to have lost in the pursuit of foreigners' cash. We're sad to end our time in Bali on this note but are also glad we didn't begin here. Luckily, a visit to the Bali Museum and the market in central Denpasar made our visit to this part of Bali more authentic and worthwhile. When
we return to Bali, however, we'll make sure to avoid this part of the island and
venture even further into the villages and mountains where the scenery
is beautiful and the people honest and kind.
