Just east of central Stockholm is the "garden island", Djurgarden. Taking the boat here was half the fun, the Vasa Museum where the giant wooden vessel, the Vasa, is preserved after being recovered from the harbour where it sunk on its maiden voyage 300 years ago, was amazing, and the more than century old Swedish open-air ethnographic museum known as Skansen was fabulous. We love Djurgaren!
