A few hours from Ipoh, Kuala Perlis is a small town with a very big ferry terminal. From here, fast ferries shuttle visitors to Pulau Langkawi, one of the big two islands along Malaysia's west coast. Langkawi is a lush, mountainous island fringed by beautiful beaches. We headed straight for what is known as one of the most beautiful but isolated beaches on the island at Tanjung Rhu. The Four Seasons Resort was a bit out of our league but the small, slightly run down Tanjung Puteri Motel was more within our budget. Two beds, great views and access to the same world-class beach? Works for us!
