Sydney. Is it Australia's greatest city? In my opinion, without a doubt. It has it all: tangible history in its streetscapes, beautiful views, grand buildings, street life, happening neighborhoods, and a thriving arts scene. Interestingly, for me, the Opera House underwhelmed while the Harbour Bridge exceeded expectations! We spent long enough in the city, too, to find our own neighborhoods: Balmain and Glebe were our favorites and Newton offered some great dining and a little more grit. When longing for some beautiful classic, Sydney terrace homes, Paddington was the place. We really found the heart of Sydney and it captured ours, too.
