Summer in Australia - Day 20: The Snowy Mountains

Most people do not associate snow with Australia but, within the Great Dividing Range which runs nearly the entire length of the continent on it's eastern side there are portions where the mountains rise high enough to have snow in the winter. A mountain man at heart, I could not pass up the opportunity to add a mountain drive to our itinerary. We drove the long, beautiful loop around the base of Mt.Kosciuszko, Australia's highest peak. The change in scenery was dramatic: lush, green valleys were replaced by vast alpine plains of snow and ice within minutes. Rai, especially, was super excited to be in the snow once again!
