The Stonehenge of Alpine County

When we told hiking guru Rodney that we hadn't found the ancient and secret stone chairs along the Charity Valley Trail, he told us a bit more about, what some call, the 'Stonehenge of Alpine County'. "It's off trail so you won't see it... unless you know exactly where to look," he told us. "It's ancient, prehistoric even," he continued. "No one knows just how those giant granite slabs were moved to that location and stacked into chairs." He finished with, "I can show you where they are on a topo map but you have to promise not to tell anyone. It's not even in the Alpine County hiking guide!"
Using Rodney's notes and a good topo map, our second attempt at finding the stone chairs was a success. Later, at the library, we chatted with some locals who had also recently hiked out to 'Stonehenge'. "Prehistoric?! Hardly. And, we just heard that Joseph Stroud will include their location in the next edition of the Alpine Sierra Trailblazer." Rodney will be heartbroken.
