Driving our "secret" backroads route from Meyers to South Lake Tahoe, we've passed Angora Lakes
Road many times. Until yesterday, however, we've never followed up on our curiosity with a drive up the road. It was worth the drive and worth the wait. The road quickly rose up to the ridge on the southern side of Fallen Leaf Lake with incredible views in both directions. A short hike later, we arrived at Angora Lakes Resort, which was surprisingly busy for such an out-of-the-way resort. Looking at the pristine lake, its inviting beach and waters, and the towering granite cliffs all around, it wasn't so hard to believe after all. And, yes, after 95 years in business, they are still serving up their famous lemonade!
