The entire eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada is dotted with hots springs, both developed and
primitive, hike-in springs. We're yet to find a developed hot spring or spa that comes anywhere near the beauty of even the simplest onsen (hot spring) in Japan so we've kind of given up on that. Instead, we now look for the best undeveloped springs that we can find. A great place to start is Bridgeport, California with at least 4 or 5 different, natural springs in the surrounding area. We drove down there to visit Buckeye Hot Springs yesterday and all of us enjoyed it very much. This is one spring we're willing to make the 1.5 hour drive to! Closer to the cabin, we always have our Grover Hot Springs although they're starting to price us out and, new to us, Carson City Hot Springs whose 'Hammer' water jet beats any massage! Could we call it "the summer of the hot spring"? Maybe, just maybe.
