Doggies

My weekly email from Baby Center began with this statement: "Ball", "dog," and "bye" may be your child's favorite -- and only -- words at this point. What?! Incredible! How did they know?! I mean, Baby Center is fantastic at getting their messages out every, single week with timely, pertinent information and articles on milestones our boy was hitting precisely that week, but how do they know such individual and personal information about our boy?
Understanding infants' and toddlers' developmental stages is one thing, but actually knowing the very three words that Rai is saying these days is another. My suspicious nature was alerted. Unless they have Nostradamus on staff, I have to admit that I'm beginning to question Baby Center's operation. What is it? Do they have staff posing as mothers in the park, following around everyone on their mailing list, eavesdropping, watching their babies, taking notes?
Whatever their tactics, however surprising, the receipt of this message was a little flattering too. Rai, they know the exact three words you love to say right now! How great is that?!
So, let's focus on one of those three words. Dog. You love dogs and whenever you see one, you let us know by saying 'dog'. It's not the best articulated 'dog' that I've ever heard, but it sure beats the 'ba' that you use to describe every other object in the known universe. Your current love affair with dogs is so intense that you will approach even the biggest, baddest dogs without fear. Pure love brings you right to their face where you open your mouth in anticipation of a big lick! Tongue to tongue contact is best. Gross? No way! When the day is through, you even lay down in your crib in your favorite position: the 'sleeping doggie posture'.
