Growing Out of your Hats and Into Mine

From your very first pediatric appointment through to the most recent, we've gone through the following scenario.
Pediatrician: "Oh, my! The nurse must have measured wrong. Rai's head can't be that big."
One of us: "Hmm, well, there may not be any mistake. This has happened before."
Pediatrician: "Let me just re-measure it here.... Oh, it IS that big."
Us: "It sure is."
It has been confirmed now a half dozen times, Rai: you have a 95th percentile-sized head on a 35th percentile body. It's tough, isn't it? The biggest problem (no pun intended) has been getting cute baby hats that fit you properly.
From your earliest days, we've had to put hats for babies twice or three times your age on your head. By now, you've (sorry, your head has) outgrown all our favorite hats. Even a few great, hand-knitted hats, a gift, that were made to be worn until 2 years of age, can no longer fit on your head. We like to flatter ourselves by assuming that you've got a huge brain in there, but who knows if there is any truth to that.
So, the only hats left for you are MY hats. Since I have a head problem of my own ('Slavic head') it makes sense that hats that fit my small head should be a perfect fit for your big head. Well, maybe not quite yet...
