Standing Ovation

As you get older, this milestone will be one you'll quickly forget but for us, it's one of your greatest yet. Over the Thanksgiving break, you learned how to clap. The first time, you clumsily brought your hands together, not knowing that you had to release once your hands had touched. You stood there, looking at us, a bit confused as your hands remained clasped in your lap.
It didn't take you long to cross that hurdle, though. Soon, you were lightly tapping your hands together and, not long after that, you were able to actually create a clapping sound.
Now, whenever you ger really excited or when you're particularly happy, you give a few claps to let us know (as if your smile wasn't enough!). Oh, and you don't know, little Rai, how much joy we get out of watching you clap happily.
What's next? Well, we're doing a lot of waving at you now, hoping you decided to mimic that next. It would really make our school day better if you could give us a parting wave every morning when we drop you off at Grandma's and Grandpa's place...
