Growth Spurt

This morning, Rai, you called me into your room and led me over to the giant sequoia growth chart that's on the wall behind your door. Standing unsupported beside the poster, you pointed at the handwritten markings on the poster.
Months ago, we had to add height markings to the poster because you weren't tall enough to make it to the lowest mark at 2 feet. Since then, you grew so quickly that we only had to add our own markings to the poster two more times.
Today, proudly, you showed me that you had now surpassed the lowest printed height line on the poster. "Look, I'm more than 2 feet tall now! I'm a somebody!" True, until now, according to the poster anyway, you were a nobody. Instead of having your own, personal height class, you were grouped into a much larger group: the under 2-feet tallers. Hmm... maybe we can somehow derive a lesson about avoiding stereotypes and understanding people as individuals here. Or, we can just say that you're now over 2 feet tall, putting you in a category much larger than the one you've graduated from.
