Our circuit around the edge of the Baltic Sea continued in Germany, where, as in Poland, we dashed around from place to place, hardly spending even a full day in one place. It was wonderful to immerse ourselves in the Hanseatic cities that dot this part of the world, giving us a broader scope of the once great trade union between Riga and it's Baltic neighbors. Beginning in colorful Stralsund, we spent a day on the beautiful Rugen Island including Binz and some great biking in Jasmund National Park. From there, we continued west with visits to picturesque Ahrenshoop, and the grand ports of Rostock and Wismar. Of course, we couldn't pass up Schwerin and were surprised by quaint Celle and Lunenburg before arriving in the larger and grittier Hamburg. Again, we were absolutely charmed by Lubeck and its canals even if our rental motorboat was capped at a maximum speed of 8 km/hour. Tiny Siseby was the perfect place to spend our last evening and night in Germany. After about eight days here, Denmark was beckoning and we succumbed to its call...
