3 Weeks in Sri Lanka - Day 13: Hortons Plains
We booked a 2-bedroom home in the middle of nowhere with the sole intent of getting up early the next morning in order to do the 8 kilometer loop hike in Horton Plains National Park. After the early hours, the mist sets in and, the views from the cliffs at World's End, which are the highlight of this hike, are non-existent. Unfortunately, we arrived on a rainy day and had to cancel our hike altogether. Then, we had to wait for a train that was delayed 3 hours and turned out to be the "goods train" which turned a 1.5 hour train ride to our next destination into a 3 hour voyage. All in all, we lost a full day. However, as the video below demonstrates, being trapped in the middle of nowhere leads to some entertaining madness a la Heart of Darkness.
