Happy Birthday, Grandma Witch

It's no secret that just when you think you've mastered one aspect of raising kids, your kids change and it's back to the drawing board. One strategy that seems to be particularly effective right now is channeling Grandma Witch (Grandma's "Hyde" persona) when we need to scare Rai and Ko into doing something we need them to do although they may be resistant to it. "If you don't go to bed right now, we may just have to call Grandma Witch..." is a leading statement we've used more than a handful of times this past week or two. It works like a charm... for now. Already, we can see this threat being deconstructed and unraveled by the boys so we know that it may be effective for only a week more. Then, it'll be on to the next strategy. Somehow, Grandpa Witch doesn't have the same ring to it.
Today, however, we did celebrate Grandma Witch's birthday with a wonderful celebration. They boys picked out some beautiful paper flowers in the Mission and helped Ashe select some equally beautiful gifts. Then, we brought all that loot and some dessert to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Happy Birthday, Grandma! Thank you for all that you do to make our lives so joyful!
