concrete that was our block on Balboa Street. This time, our return to the city was almost like we had never left the cabin at all. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and drove into our forested corner of the Presidio National Park without even having to drive through any part of the city. Then, for a few days, we found ourselves holed up in the Presidio, avoiding any trips into the city, at all. No
concrete blocks for us, please. While hiding out in the Presidio, we started to explore the vast trail network that surrounds us.Below is a summary (in photos) of an amazing 3-hour loop we devised that includes bits and pieces of most of the Presidio's
major marked and maintained trails. The map and photos below are completely an expression of my personality. This kind of project is something I just love to do! If you are anything like me, you'll enjoy beginning at the X (our home) and following our route via the red trail. The blue numbers mark spots where I took the photos labelled 1 to 37 below. The Google Maps Street View folks haven't hit the trails yet so, if you know someone at Google, please send them my way. In the future, look for a variation of this loop as we add the one glaring hole in the Presidio to our route: Crissy Field and Fort Point. That may turn out to be a momentous 4.5 hour adventure! Enjoy!
