Geocache #1: Legion of Honor

Although I've heard of geocaching before, it wasn't until yesterday that we actually took part in our first geocache treasure hunt. Maryalice, herself being introduced to the concept recently, decided to check for any treasures in the area around the Palace of the Legion of Honor, the museum we were headed to yesterday afternoon. A few treasures sat hidden, ready for discovery, in the area, but one was located right at the musuem. Could we find it?
Armed with the co-ordinates and a GPS, we set out in search of the geocache. Although we had a good sense of which way was which, we were surprised that, while standing in the Legion parking lot, our notions of where north and east are were a little off. But, a little means a lot in the search for a precise longitude/latitude co-ordinate - precision is paramount. So, for a while, we looked a bit strange, walking around the parking lot and across the grass, in circles. My first thoughts were "under the statues" or "in the fountain", but it turned out that this geocache had a much more modest location: a magnetic key holder on the underside of a simple electrical box. We found it, added our 'treasure' to the box, and decided that this would not be the last geocache hunt we'd be on. Consider this the beginning of a feature, and look for Geocache #2 soon!
