Couch Surfing

Rai, we love our furniture but we don't love it all equally.
There was one piece of furniture that I loved much less than every other item in our home.
The item was our large sectional couch with attached chaise. Don't get me wrong, it was a great piece of furniture and looked wonderful in our living room. More than that, we had some wonderful memories associated with that couch, namely you spending your first few months lounging on the chaise, unmoving, but so cute and observant. All the past tense in this paragraph has made the fate of the couch obvious: we sold it. So, why did I love this couch less than all our other furnishings? Well, it was because of that it's off-white color was quickly changing to a dirty, stained off-white.
We called in the upholstery cleaners, got it cleaned up and sold it on Craigslist, making a profit even! Taking our profits, we headed down to Pottery Barn this evening to order our new couch. For the record, this is the first new piece of furniture we've ever purchased. In fact, it may be the first brand new, big ticket item we have ever purchased together. We have to admit it felt strange being in a store, an almost foreign concept for us. To imagine how the new couch will look, we had to take an image from the website and merge it with the fabric swatch. The result, a very 'photoshopped'-looking couch. Hopefully the real thing looks a bit better when it arrives in a couple of months. In the meantime, Rai, you can continue enjoying the giant expansion to your living room play area but know that this is too good to be true; it can't last forever.
