Incredibly, just a few minutes drive from central Vilnius a region of lakes, forests, and villages and, right in its center, off the tip of a thin peninsula is Trakai Castle, the island castle and a real gem of Lithuania. We've been to many castles and estates already yet this one still managed to take our breath away. The setting is truly phenomenal and once we were inside the castle grounds, we felt transported back to another time...
