One of the former Soviet Union's great centers of learning, Tartu is still very much a university town. Naturally, as the intellectual hub of Estonia, there are dozens of museums from which to choose and great dining options. Overall, we enjoyed the vibrant vibe of the city and the feeling that we were always surrounded by art even if it was just a graffiti mural on the wall. Being a center of learning and enlightenment, Tartu was also the place where Estonian nationhood really took off with the Estonian flag first designed and flown here. Best of all, there was a lot for the boys to get involved in with the Toy Museum, Puppet Museum, and Science Center being their favorites. Having our first Indian dinner since we left Singapore wasn't too bad either!
