Charity Valley

Although we tried hard last summer to hike most of the spectacular trails in Alpine County, there are still hundreds for us to trek. Today, we tried one of them: the Charity Valley Trail. If we had another car at the hot springs, we could have followed the trail all the way back to the cabin but, alas, we did not, so we had to turn back after about 2 hours in one direction. This trail was at the top of our list as we had heard from a local hiking guru that there is an amazing spot along the way where a campsite was established almost one hundred years ago. At the site, a half dozen (or more) stone chairs have been carved from the rock. Excited to see this historical spot, we got detailed directions from the guru and set off. We didn't find the stone chairs. We'll have to meet with him again and try another time.
