Gung Hei Fat Choi -- Happy 7th Anniversary!

We were married 7 years ago on Jan.22, the date of the Chinese New Year that year. Now, we celebrate our anniversary on whatever day the Chinese New Year happens to be. Yesterday was that day and we could think of no better way to spend our anniversary than to visit the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada!
Packed into a tiny space, the museum is a random collection of hands-on exhibits and activity centers for kids to explore. Part salvage from old amusement parks and part home-made booths, the museum collection has the feeling of finding a treasure trove of antiques and toys in some attic that has lay undisturbed for several decades.
Actually, the place reminded us a lot of one of the oddest places we've ever visited: an old "amusement park" under a park in Chengdu, China. There, a tiny railroad rollercoaster zips you through life-size dioramas of important moments in Chinese history.
At the Children's Museum, the old lady running the place told us, "We may be small, but we've got a giant heart!" Doubtless. I think this place, with its air of "anything goes" is much better than the Children's Discovery Center we visit in Sausalito regularly!
