Welcome Kotaru Sequoia!

Kotaru Sequoia joined our family at 9:31 this morning.
6lbs12oz was his weight and 19 inches his length.
Ashe is energetic and feeling good despite another imperfect c-section delivery.
If you're like the grandparents on both sides and cannot or refuse to pronounce the full first name, then we will ensure that he also answers to the name "Ko". Yes, Rai, you are no longer completely unique. Like you, your little brother has a name inspired by the land of the rising sun. Your Mom chose the name "Ko". From there, we searched together for international names beginning with 'ko', finally arriving at 'Kotaru', a very uncommon Japanese name.
We'll add your kanji characters to this blog soon, but for now, faithful readers, know that the character for 'Ko' means 'tree spirit'.
Little baby Ko is beautiful and quite strong. His first action was to roll over onto his side (even before the cord was cut) and to pee on the 3 doctors hovering over him. Great start, my boy -- way to impress that crowd of eager observers! Oh, and in case your first thought was like mine: the first Friday the 13th on which Ko will celebrate his birthday comes in 2017, his 6th birthday! Meanwhile, every year we can be reminded of the memory of his wonderful great grandfather, your Dad's Mother's father, who shares this same day as his Name Day, a celebration more important than a birthday in Poland. To finish, we are glad to finally recognize the Sequoia Grove as a true grove. A lone tree it is no more.
