Traveling west and south from North Macedonia, we ventured into Albania, following the central north-south highway. It is in this central valley where some of Albania's oldest cities can be found. We visited the most impressive two: Berta, the city of 1000 windows, and Gjirokaster, an ancient stone city high in the mountains. In the south, we visited the remote Benjes hot springs. Not so hot, but the location made up for it.
