Fall Holiday 2024 - Bulgaria

Having had a wonderful time in Bulgaria during our previous February holiday, we decided to return and explore more for our first holiday this year, the October holiday. Last time, we had focused on the region south and east of Sofia. This time, we would head north and east from Sofia. Our focus would be the small, ancient mountain villages that are unique to Bulgaria, the ancient capital of Veliko Tarnovo, and the Black Sea coast between Burgas and Sozopol. After a day in Sofia, we headed east, passing through Koprivshtitsa, the Buzludzha Monument, Bojentsi, Dryanovo Monastery, Veliko Tarnovo, and Zheravna village before arriving on the coast. On the way back to Belgrade we made one final stop in the town of Velingrad, known as Bulgaria's "Spa Capital". This trip reminded us how beautiful Bulgaria is, from its mountains and villages, to its history and the stunning Black Sea coast which really surprised us in terms of its wild beauty.
