Not too far west of Belgrade is a marsh that stands where a bend in the Danube used to. The river changed course, but a body of water remains, now disconnected from the river itself. Although it is difficult to hike into the marshlands, visiting the fringes of the reserve and the small villages at its edge is a great way to get out of the city for a day.
