Doles Muiza

At the place where the giant hydroelectric dam turns the Daugava River into a vast reservoir, an island sits in the center of the river, like a giant, green eye, wrapped in tears of blue. This island, Doles Sala is a vast park with villages and homes around its edges. Historically, there was a manor here and, today, Doles Muiza is a beautiful museum complex with sweeping views out across the Daugava River. On the way in, we discovered what is now our favorite spot in the Riga vicinity: Ramava Muiza, a beautiful manor home built of wood and painted in reds, whites and blacks. At Doles Muiza, Lauki literally went insane when playing in a pile of leaves. Just check out that look in his eyes in the photos below...
