Scandinavian Road Trip - Day 14: Hardanger Fjord

Our introduction to the long, inland fjords of Norway was Hardanger Fjord. We arrived from the south and followed its snaking arms north, a little east, and finally west as we pointed back towards the coast. Although shorter than many of the greater fjords to the north, it still comes a remarkable 179 kilometers inland from the ocean and, although less steep than other fjords, the sheer cliffs rising from water to sky with unlikely farms and orchards perched high on any flat land that could be found are still an incredible sight. If this is what the Norwegian fjords look like, then we have an incredible two weeks ahead of us!
