Sentosa Island has not one, but two aquariums! Last time, we visited the brand new, state of the art, S.E.A. Aquarium. This past weekend, we decided to give the old aquarium, Underwater World, a try. What a difference! It's hard to find things that feel "old" in Singapore and, by "old", I don't mean historic buildings from the colonial era. Those are easy to find. In this case, by "old", I mean relics from the 1990s when Singapore wasn't quite the economic powerhouse that it is today. Underwater World was opened in 1991 and was South East Asia's largest oceanarium. Today, compared to the S.E.A. Aquarium, it looks more like a tropical fish store. Although its scale was underwhelming, it's focus on interactive exhibits was an interesting twist which allowed us to, literally, get our hands on lots of fish and sea life. The marquee attraction, the moving walkway through an 80 meter underwater tunnel... interesting. All in all, lots of fun!
