December is Ballet Season!

The boys love performances (even when they aren't the main attraction), they love dance, and they love the ballet so we decided to treat them to a holiday tradition: the Nutcracker. We saw a rendition by the San Francisco Youth Ballet and following an amateur first half, we were actually impressed by the second half. Today, however, we stepped it up a notch. We attended the renowned and innovative Smuin Ballet's XXMas performance, part of their year long, 20th Anniversary series. It was incredible. It's our third time seeing a Smuin production and, each time, we've walked away exhilarated and excited by such a contemporary approach to such a classical art form. You know its good when a four year old and three year old can sit through a 2.5 hour performance enthralled and without stirring. And,when the snow started falling on the audience for the last dance, the boys almost exploded with joy!
