She's the One (A Mother's Day Poem by Rai Sequoia)

Everything we need, caught between these walls,
warm and comfortable, safe and free.
So, from this place, we need not roam;
still, she's the one that makes this home.

To the south a brush stroke, emerald green.
If from branch to branch we could travel,
the Park so close, with trees so rife;
still, she's the one that brings us life.

And to the west, where the sun finds rest,
an endless blue, a gentle lullaby.
Gazing out, there's no greater release;
still, she's the one that brings us peace.

There are steps of brick to the north.
A green door, smiles and hugs I long for.
By the flames, I spend my days happily;
still, Mom's the one who makes our family.

  1. Wait a minute, Little Dude. Your dad is a math teacher AND a poet? So what's next for him, NASCAR? Buckle Up!
