Our New Home

What began last April as some casual browsing of homes and apartments on the market quickly spiraled out of control until, in early June, we were moving into a new home but, unlike the six of seven other times that Ash and I have moved into new "homes", this time, we were moving into a home that was truly ours. We bought this one. Early June is almost five months ago so this update is a bit late in coming. Even now, it will be incomplete. I've been waiting until we get the home set up just like we want it but it's still not there mostly due to the fact that we can't secure a contractor to get some things finished up for us. So, for now, there are not many interior photos, other than a few from the very first week when there were things stacked everywhere. We've come a long way since then but are still waiting on closet space upstairs, storage downstairs, and the finishing of our sauna. For now, we are making the most of our new home -- it's beautiful and we love it. Even better, maybe, is our location. We are in Jurmala, one of our favorite places on Earth. A small beach on the river is a short few minutes walk down a forest path. On our other three sides is a village-like neighborhood of old, wooden cottages and homes and huge expanses of forest with trails throughout and the dirt road through the forest that gets us to our place is incredible. The train station is a 10-minute walk through the forest from us with a 28-minute train trip to Riga center. Finally, the amazing Baltic Sea beach that stretches the entire 16 km length of the Jurmala sand spit is just 5 minutes bike ride out our door. This is our little piece of heaven and we are so excited to be first time home owners in Latvia.
