Our second day of driving around with our real estate agent, looking at condos near our school, was both less exhausting than the first day and
more successful than the first day. Today, we found our new ho
me, the place we will live our life in Singapore from. For those who have ever visited Singapore, the name Orchard Road will certainly be something you're familiar with. Our new place is just a couple blocks from the heart of Orchard Road and it's most modern department store: Orchard Ion. As soon as we saw this place, we knew we wanted it and, a few hours later, we were signing the lease. After all that was done, we had just enough time left in the day to take another late day walk in another beautiful park. We visited the Chinese and Japanese 
Gardens in the western part of Singapore Island. In addition to the great buildings, we had the treat of seeing a giant monitor lizard eating his dinner: a very large fish he had caught in the lake and dragged onto shore. Check out our new home, the Elizabeth Heights Tower, in the first three photos below. A bit older than the brand new highrises that surround it, it is dwarfed by them in height but makes up for that in design. The building has a beautiful shape, is surrounded by an expansive green space, and has an amazing open air core. Our unit has a great double balcony and opens to lush trees. On site, we have a gym, swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, squash courts, and basketball court. Along the other side of the street is a row of wonderfully preserved colonial homes.
Just 15 minutes walk from our school, a couple of minutes to Orchard Road, and access to plenty of subway stations and the history and action of downtown Singapore just minutes away, we really could not have asked for anything more!
